The basketball season has been a rough start up until tonight for the Seton boys. With last year’s double double player Delano Morgan out with a fractured leg, returning post Andy Olson still recovering from a football injury, and multiple players out due to missed practices over the holiday weekend the Cougars were playing with limited players against 4A and 3A opponents. Tonight was the first night we were close to having a full line up and the Cougars wasted no time getting after it running and gunning to a 70 – 34 victory!
Looking like the fast paced team from last year the Seton Catholic pressure defense paid off right away and Seton used a 30 – 7 1st quarter to set the tone for the season’s first win. The Cougars never looked back as they forced 31 turnovers and went up by as many as 40 points.
The Cougars were led in scoring by Isaiah Parker’s 21 points. Matt Kent chipped in 12 including 10 in the first quarter. Sophomore Luke Pitzer also put up double figures scoring 11 points. Henry Demsky and sophomore Zach Cowger each added 9 points.
Seton JV boys also notched their first victory of the season with a very entertaining 55-52 win!
Seton boys will take the floor again for another home game against a traveling team from Australia! JV boys tip off at 5:30, Varsity at 7pm!
Troy Owen is on the concessions so come out have some dinner and watch some entertaining high school basketball!
