Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Seton Girls Win Close One at Home vs Columbia Adventist

The Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiacs are consistently one of the top teams in the area for 1B schools and it showed tonight as they took the Seton Cougars to the wire tonight in a non league game at Seton. The Seton girls notched their first win of the season with a 50-47 victory!

The Cougars led by as many as 11 points in the second half but foul trouble and some aggressive penetration by the Kodiac guards kept the game close.

Needing some offense,  Coach Ephraim inserted Sophomore guard Emma Watkins into the lineup. She immediately had an impact by hitting a 3 pointer from the wing to help Seton regain some momentum! With 3 minutes left in the game and starting guard Jasmine Morgan out with 5 personal fouls the Cougars lead dwindled down to just 1 point when Emma Watkins found herself open again on the wing and nailed her second three pointer of the quarter to give the Cougs a 4 point lead. With 30 seconds left and the lead down to three Watkins caught an inbound pass from about 15 feet out and hit her third consecutive jump shot making her 3 for 3 for the quarter and giving the Cougars a five point lead.

Columbia could not close the gap and Seton held on to the 3 point win and their first victory of the season. Jasmine Morgan led the Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Michaela Ephraim added 9, Haley Vick had 8, and Emma Watkins had all 8 of her points in the 4th quarter.

There’s little rest for our girls as they take on 2A Columbia River tomorrow night 7pm at Seton! (JV at 5:30pm). Once again Troy Owen will be on the grill so make it a family night and come enjoy some great food and High School Basketball!

Go Cougs!
