Cougars News · Seton Girls Drop A Close One On The Road To Estacada

After the last game the girls played Coach Ephraim made the statement we’re getting back to basics. The next week of practice was focused on the fundamentals and it showed in the rematch with Estacada.

The Cougs lost in a blowout the first time these two teams met in November. This game was a complete turn around from that opening night as the Cougs took Estacada to the wire coming up just 3 points shy.

The game started out as a defensive struggle as both teams had a hard time scoring. The cougs trailed by just 1 and the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter wasn’t much different as Seton only managed 5 points in the period and finished the half down by 5 points 12-17.

The girls found their offense in the third and put up 17 points in the period and the cougs were up five going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter Estacada put up 18 points and put 4 of our starters out of the game with five fouls. Seton had a chance to tie it at the end but failed to get the shot off in time.

Coach Ephraim was proud of the way the girls played but felt it should have been a win. “We need to shoot better than 10 of 25 from the free throw line if we want to win a game like this.” Coach said. “I liked what I saw but we’ve got to continue to get better.”

The girls will have little time to rest as they take to the road again at Scapoose High School tomorrow night at 7pm!
