Cougars News · Cougs Get Third Straight With Home Win Over White Salmon 57-42!

In all my years of coaching finals week never gets any easier! You never know what you’re going to get from your kids during the week that they’re cramming for final exams. Tonight was no different as we took to the floor for a crucial league game against White Salmon. Having dropped one to them by two at their place tonight’s game was important for both teams as we fight for the chance to compete in the District 4 playoffs.

Feeling the low energy during pregame the coaches all knew we would have to win this game defensively as we’d struggle to function offensively. And that’s exactly what we did as we full court pressured nearly the entire game forcing 27 turnovers. Our steady outside shooting was non existent tonight so those turnovers were crucial to the outcome of this game.

The Cougs led from the start and went in at halftime with a 27-16 lead! The second half was all about extending that lead and we were up by as many as 22 with 4 minutes to go in the game. At the three minute mark we pulled off the pressure and lost our focus a bit but coasted in with a 57-42 victory.

Henry Demsky stood out as the player with energy tonight as he led the team with 23 points including 17 points in the second half. Matthew Kent chipped in 9 points and Isaiah Parker added 8.

The JV boys made it a sweep over the Bruins tonight as they led from start to finish and took the home victory 49-32. Kellen Ball led the JV squad with 17 points and Noah Carlos added 11.

The Cougs will travel to Stevenson on Thursday to take on the Bulldogs! JV 5:30 pm Varsity 7pm.

Go Cougs!
