Seton Catholic wrestling has again broken new ground as they finished the 1A District Tournament this weekend with not just one but two district champions in Elijah Volk and Maritza Chavez-Anguiano which by the way, has never been done in Seton Catholic history! Not only that, the Cougar wrestling team had one runner-up in Amanda Fry as she fell a little short in a heated barn burner. Amanda was ahead the entire match until 40 seconds left in the final. We also had a fourth-place finish in Riley Limberg and two awesome perfomances in Ken Koceja and Jet Meza- Gonzalez as they both finished 5th place birthing them a spot as alternates in the 1A Regional tounament to be held this Saturday at Castle Rock High school for the boys, and also Aberdeen High school for the girls. Incredibly, three members of The Seton Catholic wrestling team will be competing in next weeks 1A Regional Wrestling Tournament and possibly two alternates Setting a new school record. Coach Damon McPherson emphatically professed, “this group of young people have managed to literally build something monumental out of nothing more than hard work, dedication and un-parallelled courage. They trusted the vision and now we are up and rolling only because of what this group of dedicated student athletes have committed to do which was to FINISH, and for that every future Cougar wrestler will owe honor to this group because without them there would be no future for Cougar wrestling.”
We will be looking forward to more exciting finishes next week as the Seton Catholic Wrestling team prepares to go do battle at the 2018 1A Regional Wrestling Tournament.
Good Luck and Go Cougs!
