Cougars News · Girls Track Makes It Two In A Row With Invitational Team Championship!


The Seton Girls Track Team carried the momentum of last week’s championship at the Kalama Invite over to the Southwest Christian School Invite held at Sherwood High School. The Seton girls placed in nearly every event running away with the team title while also highlighting many outstanding individual performances. The Seton girls put up 133.5 points in the meet with their closest competitor at 92 points.

The relay teams took first in both relays continuing their mission of competing for a district title and a birth to the state track meet. The 100m team of Michaela Ephraim, Tui Chetekwe, Jasmine Morgan, and Montana Cowley ran a time of 53:10 besting their closest opponent by nearly 2 seconds. The 400m relay team of Kiya Gere, Riley McDonough, Katelyn Junker, and Elena Carrion out ran their opponents by nearly 11 seconds with a time of 4:21.55.

Sydnee Dyer continued her dominance as she took first in the 1500m with a 5:05.48 and first in the 3000m besting her opponents by over 1 minute with a time of 11:22.

In the 800m race, Jerica Pachl, coming off an ACL surgery competed in her first event of the year and cruised to a 2nd place finish! Tui Chetekwe, already having outstanding performances in the relays also placed 3rd in the 100m and 5th in the 200m. Kathleen Junker placed 3rd in the 400m with Kiya Gere right behind her with a 4th place finish. Elena Carrion added a 3rd place finish in the 300m hurdles and Cheyenne Badger finished 3rd in the triple jump!

The boys took 2nd in the meet finishing just a couple of points out of first. The boys 4x100m relay team of Josh Vick, Michael Silveira, Tyvauntae Deloney, and Myles McGovern finished 1st. The 400m relay team of, John Traffalis, Bardyn Caruli, Michael Silveira, and Hayden Miller took 2nd.

Invidivually Taj Muhammad took 2nd in the 100m, 3rd in 200m, and 3rd in the long jump. David Carrion took 3rd in 1500m, 2nd in the 300m, and 2nd in the pole vault. Joey Dearey placed 4th in the triple jump.

The boys and girls will compete again Thursday May 3rd right here at McClaskey Field in an all important Tri Co League meet!
