Cougars News · Girls Track District 4 Champions! State Academic Champs!

The Seton Catholic Girls Track Team put an exclamation point on their most successful season ever by winning their first ever District 4 Championship! In addition to their District 4 championship the girls track team won their second straight State Academic Championship with their 1A State high team average GPA of 3.929!

As far as the District 4 championship goes, Freshman Syndee Dyer continued to prove she’s one of the top distance runners in the state by winning the 3200m race and placing 3rd in the 1600m. In the girls 800m we had two runners place with Riley McDonough taking 1st! Jerrica Pachl, coming off knee surgery early this year wasn’t sure she’d even be able to compete in track this spring yet with very little training she demonstrated why she’s one of our top athletes by finishing 3rd in the 800m and qualifying for state!

The Girls 4×100 relay team (Michaela Ephraim, Tuio Chitekwe, Jasmine Morgan, and Emma Watkins) showed the dominance they’ve shown all year by once again finishing first and taking the District 4championship! The girls 4×200 relay team (Emma Watkins, Jasmine Morgan, Grace Hopkins, and Elena Carrion) place 2nd and qualifying for state! the 4×400 relay team (Katelyn Junker, Riley McDonough, Kiya Gere, and Elena Carrion) also qualified for state with a 2nd place finish!

Two Seton Catholic High Jumpers will also be heading to state as Ellie Saunders and Rachel Balsiger finished 1st and 2nd respectively. Saunders with a height of 5ft and Rachel Balsiger 4ft 8″.  Josie Partridge caps off her senior year with a 1st place finish in the pole vault with a height of 8ft 6″.

Michaela Ephraim followed up her 4x100m relay championship with a state qualifying 2nd place finish in the long jump at 14ft 9″!

On the boys side Freshman Elijah Volk continued his amazing freshman year! After making a state run in wrestling Volk is heading back to state competition with a third place finish in the boys pole vault.

The Qualifying Seton Athletes will head east on Wednesday to compete in the 1A State Championships at Eastern Washington University! We are so proud of our Athletes! Congrats to our entire Seton Catholic Track team on an amazing spring season. Go Cougs!
