The boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Meriwether National Golf Club on Friday to compete against some of the larger programs in the state of Oregon. With teams like Jesuit, Sunset, McMinnville and other larger programs Coach Pyatt’s cougars proved why we’re one of the top 1A schools in the area as our runners competed very well against the much larger schools.
In the boys division David Carrion continued to show he may be the top runner in all of the 1A district 4 as he finished in 12th place out of over 300 runners with a recorded time of 16:21. Top runners that he outpaced came from programs like Jesuit, Sherwood, Wilson, Mountainview, and Sheldon.
Koen Ross finished in the top third of the field with a time of 17:36.
On the girls side there were 240 runners competing. Lara Carrion, not to be outdone by her brother, and continue the tradition of Carrion runners, finished 36 with a time of 20:04. Sydnee Dyer finished just 1 minute behind with a time of 21:05.
Several of the boys and girls set personal records as coach Pyatt says he was very happy with how his runners competed. The Cougs will head to White Salmon on Wednesday for a Tri Co League meet.
