Cougars News · Seton’s CJ Hamblin is WIAA’s 1A Athlete of the Week!

It’s been a great year for Seton Catholic Freshman CJ Hamblin. After starting at running back and receiving all league honors in football this year he’s taking it to a higher level on the wrestling mat in his first year at Seton Catholic.

CJ went undefeated in the Trico League this year in his weight class and was the Clark County Champion! CJ lost only once this year on the mat in a very competitive non league tourney. This past week Hamblin won the Trico League Championship in the 145lb class.

The State wrestling championships begin today and CJ is poised for a run at the title. Coach Damon McPherson said: ” After years of preparation, trusting his coaches, and trusting the process CJ has positioned himself for an opportunity not many young wrestlers will have. That’s competing for a state title run all four years of high school.”

CJ’s efforts were recognized this past week by the WIAA as he was selected as the State’s 1A athlete of the week!

Congrats CJ we are proud of you! Good luck at State!
