This weekend, your Seton Cougar Wrestling Team split up for two big two-day tournaments: The girls went to Kelso, and the boys participated in the Don York Tournament at Cleveland High School in Portland.
Seniors Amanda Fry and Maritza Chavez-Anguiano both fought hard at the Kelso tournament, wrestling their way through tough competition. At the end of the day, Fry made it to the podium, placing fifth.
Our Seton boys showed incredible progress as they faced competitor after competitor. Several of our wrestlers battled for three or four matches on the first day alone. Regardless of whether they’d been eliminated or advanced to the championship round, our team stayed to support their teammates. Even those who’d been knocked out of the tournament on the first day, showed up to cheer on sophomore Elijah Volk, and freshmen Christopher (CJ) Hamblin and Ian Campbell who advanced to the second day.
Thank you, parents, for making sure that your wrestler was there to support their teammates. This is what being a team is all about!
Seton had four wrestlers who placed in the Don York Tournament: Volk took 3rd in the 132 weight class, Hamblin took 1st in the 145 weight class, and Campbell took 4th in the 138 weight class.
Great job, Seton boys and girls wrestling!
